Primary Ingredients:

  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder Dutch-processed or natural
  • 1 cup powdered milk or milk alternative like coconut or oat milk powder
  • ½ cup sugar or sweetener of choice: coconut sugar, monk fruit, erythritol

Optional Add-Ins:

  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract or vanilla bean powder
  • Pinch of salt Himalayan pink salt or sea salt
  • 1 –2 tbsp malt powder for a nostalgic, creamy texture

Ingredient Substitutes:

  • Cacao powder instead of cocoa powder for a less processed alternative
  • Oat milk powder or coconut milk powder instead of regular powdered milk
  • Maple syrup or honey instead of sugar for natural sweetness

Instructions

Step 1: Mix the Dry Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, combine ½ cup cocoa powder, 1 cup powdered milk, and ½ cup sweetener.
  • Whisk well to ensure even distribution and prevent lumps.

Step 2: Add Flavor Enhancers

  • Mix in 1 tbsp vanilla extract (or powder) and a pinch of salt.
  • If using malt powder, add 1–2 tbsp for extra creaminess.

Step 3: Store Your Homemade Nesquik Powder

  • Transfer the mixture to an airtight container or glass jar.
  • Store in a cool, dry place to keep it fresh for up to 2 months.

Step 4: How to Make Chocolate Milk

  • Add 2–3 tbsp of homemade Nesquik powder to a glass of cold milk.
  • Stir or shake until fully dissolved. If it doesn’t dissolve easily, let it sit for 1–2 minutes and stir again.
  • For a frothy texture, blend in a blender or use a milk frother.

Notes

  • For Vegan Nesquik → Use coconut or oat milk powder and monk fruit/stevia as a sweetener.
  • For Hot Chocolate Milk → Avoid adding powder to boiling milk directly; let it cool slightly before mixing to prevent clumping.
  • Shelf Life → Store in a cool, dry place and consume within 2 months.
