Last night, I did not want a sugar latte or even hot chocolate, so instead of that, I made a turmeric and coconut milk drink recipe.
So in this post, I will give you that drink recipe, which is not just a pretty yellow color or golden milk. It’s a traditional wellness drink.
Plus, I will also give you some customization options so that you can make the best turmeric coconut milk drink at home, like more earthy, spicy, sweet, creamy, etc.
Ingredients to Make Turmeric and Coconut Milk Drink
To make the turmeric and coconut milk drink, you will need mainly two base ingredients, and those are turmeric and coconut milk.
But this is not enough, because I made something best and new for myself, and this is what I wanted to try.
So, here are some extra ingredients that you would want to add for the best and new recipe:
- 1 ½ cups full-fat coconut milk: (from the can is best, but carton will work too if that’s what you have)
- ¾ tsp ground turmeric: My first choice is to use fresh grated, but you can use powdered, as it’s more stable and quicker
- ¼ tsp cinnamon: It will add warmth and a lovely after-note
- A pinch of ground ginger or a small knob of fresh grated one: It is optional, but I highly recommend it if you want a soothing kick
- Black pepper – just a pinch: It is not for taste, but to activate turmeric
- Sweetener of choice: Such as honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar, or even dates if you want to blend
- ½ tsp vanilla extract (optional, but you can use it, it will add unexpected cozy roundness
Optional but recommended add-ons:
- You can add a little ghee or coconut oil (just ½ tsp, it will help with absorption)
- Cardamom pinch (it will add a luxurious aroma)
- A scoop of collagen or maca if you’re making it more wellness-style

How to Make Turmeric and Coconut Milk Drink
Here is my step-by-step method of how I made a Turmeric and Coconut Milk Drink recipe at home.
- You want to take a small saucepan and warm the coconut milk on low-medium heat (don’t let it boil).
- Add turmeric, cinnamon, black pepper, and ginger. Keep whisking slowly for 3 to 4 minutes continuously. This will help turmeric to properly dissolve and open up its flavors.
- Once everything starts smelling, you can add a sweetener and vanilla if you are using it. Then, stir it well until everything is combined.
- If you’re using ghee or coconut oil, you should also stir them now; they will add creaminess and help your body absorb turmeric way better.
- Strain (if you used fresh grated ginger or turmeric) into a mug.
- Your drink is ready, and now you can sip it slowly. Plus, you can add a sprinkle of cinnamon or a swirl of honey on top.
By the way, I drank this turmeric and coconut milk drink at night, but this is not only for night, it works in the morning too, especially when you are skipping coffee, so you can drink that.
Cold Version of Turmeric and Coconut Milk Drink
You might have tried a turmeric drink with milk, but did you ever think it could be made cold, especially on a warm afternoon run?
I don’t think so, but actually, you can make it.
It will be like a smooth, golden iced latte without caffeine.
So firstly, you want to make the turmeric and coconut milk drink as I mentioned.
Then let it cool and pour it over ice.
Besides this, you can also blend your drink with ice and pour white chocolate chips or sauce, and make it like a creamy turmeric frappe.
By the way, when you are making a cold version of turmeric and coconut milk, I highly recommend you add Medjool dates while blending.
Also, top your drink with dry fruit like pistachios or chopped chocolate.
You can use sweetened or unsweetened, but it should be of high quality, like Ghirardelli chocolate.

Turmeric and Coconut Milk Drink Benefits
Now let’s talk about the benefits of drinking turmeric and coconut milk.
- Anti-inflammatory Powerhouse: Turmeric contains curcumin (it is an active compound in turmeric). It is provided by many studies that curcumin, found in turmeric, helps with inflammation, joint pain, gut health, and even brain clarity. Plus, when you add a pinch of black pepper? It boosts turmeric absorption by up to 2000%. That’s not a typo.
- Coconut Milk is More Than Creamy: Coconut milk adds healthy fats to your drink— especially lauric acid — which supports immunity, skin hydration, and satiety. Also, it will give your drink its super-rich feel without needing dairy.
- Great for Digestion and Gut: If your stomachs act weird or is bloated, turmeric with warm coconut milk can calm it down. This drink is also a little antimicrobial, and cinnamon and ginger will help in balancing digestion, too.
- Better Sleep (when taken at night): You can sip this turmeric milk about an hour before bed, and it can help you wind down. Especially with the cinnamon + ginger combo — it’s naturally calming.
- Good for Skin & Hair Health (long term): All these anti-inflammatory and antioxidant ingredients work together to support your healthier skin tone, they also reduce acne triggers, and improve scalp circulation too (but only if you’re drinking it regularly, not once a month obviously).
Now you know that this turmeric and coconut drink is not a trending one. It’s actually a wellness drink, which is tasty but also beneficial for your body.
Turmeric and Coconut Milk Drink Customization Ideas

FAQs
Here are a few questions and their answer about this Turmeric and Coconut Milk Drink Recipe:
Can I use fresh turmeric root instead of ground turmeric for this drink?
Yes, you can use that. In fact, if you use turmeric root instead of ground turmeric, it will taste vibrant.
However, you want to get about a half to 1 teaspoon of fresh turmeric root, or you can choose depending on how healthy or strong you want it to be.
Is it okay to drink turmeric and coconut milk every day?
If your body likes it — 100%, yes.
Daily turmeric can help lower inflammation, support digestion, and boost immunity.
Btw, you want to keep portions balanced (around ½ tsp turmeric per serving) and always include black pepper (even just a pinch), it will make turmeric way more effective.
If you’re going to drink it for the first time, start slow and observe how your body responds.
Can I make this turmeric coconut drink ahead of time?
Yes, you can make this drink ahead of time and keep it in the fridge. It will be okay for the next 2-3 days.
And next time, when you want to drink, you have to shake it and reheat it. Because it’s spicy, it will settle at the bottom.
To reheat, you can use a stove or a microwave.
And again, you shouldn’t boil it, just warm it.
But I personally recommend that you drink it fresh; this is better. Or you can make the powder as I have shared above. And make a quick, fresh turmeric drink whenever you want.
What’s the best time to drink turmeric coconut milk?
That totally depends on why you are drinking it. If you want better digestion or calm inflammation, then you should drink it mid-morning or afternoon.
But if you want this thing to help you, and if you are drinking it for relaxation or for better sleep, then you should drink it around 1 or 2 hours before bedtime.
I mostly drink before bed, not only this, but also other turmeric drinks.
