Dunkin Donuts Stuffed Bagel Minis Recipe

I really like stuffed bagel minis from Dunkin. So I recently made my own Dunkin Donuts stuffed bagel minis at home. They were chewy, soft, and warm.

But didn’t just make a copycat of Dunkin Donuts. Instead, I made my own best version.

I said it best because I customized it for myself, which I will also tell you how you can do it.

For example, you can customize the dough, filling, texture, and everything you want.

So in this post, I will teach you step by step, and give you the option to make it without yeast.

And try different flavors like cream, cheese, seasoning tricks, storage, reheating, and many other things. So read the post till the end.

What Makes Dunkin Donuts Bagel Minis So Good?

If you have eaten Bagel Minis at Dunkin’s, you would already know.

These little bagel balls are stuffed with smooth cheese, cream, and baked till they turn golden.

And I really like when they are warm, soft, and chewy. Like a mini bagel, but sized and convenient.

One thing that makes it good is the dough texture and the hot cream cheese center. I love this combo.

And when you bite into these homemade Bagel Minis, you get a soft bagel-y chew with a little hint of buttery tang because of the cheese.

Also, Dunkin’s Bagel Minis are not like bread and are not hollow either. It’s just right.

When you make it at home, it becomes even better because you have control over the dough’s softness, cheesy filling, seasoning, and size.

So all these things combined make it special.

Ingredients You Need for Homemade Stuffed Bagel Minis

Here are all the ingredients that you need to make the Dunkin Donuts Stuffed Bagel Minis Recipe.

For the Dough (Yeast Version – Most Authentic Texture):

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour: You can also use bread flour if you want extra chewy bagel minis
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • 1 ½ tsp instant yeast
  • ½ cup warm water: It shouldn’t be too hot — just warm to activate the yeast
  • 1 tbsp plain Greek yogurt or sour cream: It is optional, but it will help make the dough soft
  • 1 tbsp oil (olive or neutral — adds tenderness)

For the Quick No-Yeast Dough Version (Faster, Slightly Less Chewy):

  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • ¾ cup plain Greek yogurt

That’s it, you have to mix and knead. It would be great if you want it in 30 mins.)

For the Filling:

  • Cream cheese: You wanna take about 6 oz (softened). Also, you can use plain or any flavored one.
Optional: Flavor Mix-ins for the Cheese
  • Garlic powder, chives, finely chopped jalapeño, sundried tomato bits, or everything bagel seasoning
  • Or you can go sweet — cinnamon + honey + chopped strawberries? Yep, you can do that too.

For the Topping:

  • Egg wash (1 egg + 1 tsp water, it is important for a glossy golden finish)
  • Everything Bagel Seasoning or just sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried onion, sea salt

Cream Cheese Filling Flavors You Can Try

It’s a fun part. You don’t need to stick to the plain cream cheese unless you don’t want it.

Dunkin originally has this, but at home, you can try something different, which I recommend you try. Especially if not now, then in the future, for a different experience.

  • Garlic & Chive: You have to mix softened cream cheese with garlic powder + finely chopped chives
  • Jalapeño Popper Style: Add chopped jalapeño + shredded cheddar to cream cheese
  • Honey Walnut: Mix cream cheese with a little honey and chopped walnuts
  • Strawberry: You can blend cream cheese with a little strawberry jam or fresh strawberry puree (I recommend fresh strawberry puree)
  • Pizza Bagel Mini: Use cream cheese + a bit of marinara + shredded mozzarella

You can portion all this out and freeze extras for later, too.

Step-by-Step: How to Make Dunkin Donuts Stuffed Bagel Minis at Home

Now, here is the step-by-step process that I follow to make my Dunkin Donuts stuffed bagel minis recipe at home.

If you follow this process, you’ll make the most authentic version.

Step 1: Make the Dough

You wanna take a large bowl:

  • Mix flour
  • Sugar
  • Salt
  • Instant yeast.
  • Add warm water and oil, stir to combine.

Knead the dough for about 6 to 8 minutes until it’s soft, elastic, and smooth.

Pro Tip: If you are using Greek yogurt, mix it in with the water, then use it in the dough, instead of directly adding yogurt to the dough.

Now, cover your bowl with a towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 45 minutes to 1 hour, until doubled.

(If you’re using the no-yeast version, you can mix the self-rising flour and Greek yogurt until a shaggy dough forms, knead it for 1 to 2 minutes, and you’re good to go. No rising time will be needed.)

Step 2: Prep the Cream Cheese Filling

While your dough is rising, you have to take your cream cheese (it should be at room temperature) and mix that with your chosen flavorings if you’re customizing, such as Garlic powder, chives, etc.

Then scoop out small 1 tsp-sized cream cheese balls and place them on parchment paper.

After that, freeze them for 15 to 20 minutes so they hold their shape when you wrap them.

Pro tip: If you skip freezing, the cheese might ooze out while baking.

Step 3: Divide the Dough

Once your dough is ready, you have to punch it down and divide it into 10 to 12 equal parts.

Then, roll each piece into a small circle (about 2.5–3 inches in diameter).

Now, place a frozen cream cheese ball in the center, then pinch and seal the dough around it tightly.

Roll slowly to form a smooth ball shape. And, make sure the seam is on the bottom.

Step 4: Add Toppings

Now you wanna brush each ball with egg wash and sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds.

Optional: You can also coat them with butter after baking if you want an extra-rich flavor.

Step 5: Bake

When you are almost done, you have to preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Then bake for 13 to 15 minutes, until they turn golden brown on top.

You want the tops shiny and golden, and the bottoms should be crisp.

After baking, let them cool for just 2 to 3 minutes (they’ll be hot!) and then take a bite.

Air Fryer Version (If You Don’t Want to Bake)

Yep, that’s true, if you don’t wanna bake Dunkin Donuts stuffed bagel minis, you can air fry them. Here is how:

  • You want to preheat the air fryer to 350°F
  • Arrange the bagel minis (don’t overcrowd)
  • Air fry for 8 to 10 minutes, also turn halfway

Your homemade stuffed bagel minis will come out crispier on the outside, which I personally love.

Storage Tips: How to Keep & Reheat

Store: You can keep these stuffed bagel minis in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Freeze (Before or After Baking): You should wrap each raw stuffed mini in plastic and freeze. And then you can bake straight from frozen. You will just have to add 3 to 5 extra minutes.

Or, bake them first and then freeze if you want a quick microwave snack anytime.

Reheat:

Microwave: 20 to 25 seconds

Oven or air fryer: 5 minutes at 350°F for a crispy bite

Plus, you won’t have to change too many things, just change a few ingredients. Here are some ideas that I want you to try.

  • Cinnamon Sugar Minis: You can skip the savory topping. And, Brush baked minis with melted butter + toss in cinnamon sugar.
  • Savory Breakfast Version: Add a little bit of cooked bacon or sausage in with the cream cheese
  • Sweet Berry Version: You can use strawberry cream cheese or mix with berry jam, and dust with powdered sugar
  • Cheddar Jalapeño Minis: Stuff with cream cheese + shredded cheddar + jalapeños. Top with crushed tortilla chips

How I made Chocolate Stuffed Bagel Minis

I really love chocolates, and I keep trying different chocolate recipes.

So, when I was making these Dunkin Donuts stuffed bagel minis, I had left a little dough for experimenting.

In that dough, I mixed cocoa powder—because I wanted to have a chocolate version—and also added some honey into it.

On top of that dough, for topping, I sprinkled a bit of chocolate (very small pieces), and pinched those into the dough balls before baking them.

So, that’s how I made the chocolate version of these bagel minis.

And also, I didn’t make chocolate bagel minis from all the dough; I just did it with four dough balls.

And since I love chocolate, I liked that one too. If you want, you can try that too.

Conclusion

This was my Dunkin Donuts Stuffed Bagel Minis Recipe. It’s one of those snacks that’s just hard to stop at one.

These bagel minis are soft and a little chewy as they should be, and the cheesy middle is also good; it will melt within seconds when you bite in.

A good thing about this recipe is that you can totally make it your own; you can make it savory, spicy, sweet, or even vegan.

Plus, you don’t have to wait in line or pay for two tiny minis (just make a full batch at home), store them, freeze them, and reheat whenever you crave.

FAQs: Dunkin Donuts Stuffed Bagel Minis Recipe

Here are the common questions and their answers about this bagel minis recipe:

Can I make these bagel minis ahead of time?

Yes, you can make these stuffed bagel minis in advance. Once you bake them, you should freeze them.

And whenever you want to eat, just reheat them in the microwave for a few seconds. You can also air fry them if you want a crispy exterior.

What cream cheese flavor is closest to Dunkin’s original?

If you want to make like Dunkin’s original recipe of bagel minis, which uses plain full-fat Cream Cheese, it works very well.

But if you want to elevate it, which you should, then you can add a little garlic powder or sea salt or something else, as I have given you some options. And you will have a newer version.

How do I prevent the cream cheese from leaking during baking?

Firstly, you should freeze the cream cheese balls before stuffing them. This will help them hold shape.

Secondly, you wanna make sure you pinch and seal the dough tightly around the filling with no cracks.

Besides this, you should also avoid overfilling. One tablespoon of filling is usually enough for each mini.
