Ocean Spray Blueberry Lemonade is a refreshing summer drink made with homemade blueberry syrup, lemon juice, and cold water. It’s tangy, sweet, and bursting with real blueberry flavor.
Combine blueberries, sugar, and 1 cup water in a saucepan.
Simmer gently for 6–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until berries burst and syrup turns deep purple.
Strain:
Pour through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a jar or bowl.
Press to extract juice. Let it cool completely.
Mix Lemonade:
In a large pitcher, combine lemon juice and 3 cups cold water.
Stir in cooled blueberry syrup gradually to your taste preference.
Adjust Flavor:
Add more syrup for stronger blueberry flavor or water for lighter taste.
Chill & Serve:
Refrigerate for 1 hour, then serve over ice.
Garnish with lemon slices, mint, or floating blueberries.
Notes
Simmer gently: Avoid boiling too hard — a hard boil makes the syrup bitter. Gentle simmering keeps the flavor bright and color vivid.
Strain well: For a smooth, café-quality lemonade, double-strain through a fine mesh strainer. Press the berries firmly to extract every drop.
Always cool the syrup completely before mixing into lemonade. Hot syrup dulls the lemon flavor and can make the drink cloudy.
Add sparkling water at serving time, not before chilling — this keeps the bubbles alive and the drink effervescent.
Freeze leftover blueberry syrup in ice cube trays. Drop two cubes directly into a glass of water or sparkling water for a quick blueberry lemonade any time.
For the deepest purple color, use wild blueberries or simmer a few minutes longer to concentrate the pigment.
