  • Main Ingredients
  • 12-15 pretzel rods or traditional pretzels, mini sticks
  • 8 oz chocolate dark, milk, or white chocolate—your choice
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or vegetable shortening for smooth melting and glossy finish
  • Toppings Optional
  • Sprinkles rainbow, chocolate, or themed for holidays
  • Chopped nuts pecans, almonds, peanuts
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Crushed candy M&M’s, Oreos, peppermint candies
  • Sea salt flakes
  • Shredded coconut

Instructions

  • Prepare the Pretzel Rods
  • Lay out a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  • Place the pretzel rods on the sheet, ensuring they have enough space to cool without touching.
  • Melt the Chocolate
  • Double Boiler Method:
  • Fill a small saucepan with water but ensure it does not touch the bottom of the heatproof bowl.
  • Place the bowl on the saucepan and add broken chocolate pieces.
  • Stir constantly until melted, then add coconut oil for a glossy finish.
  • Microwave Method:
  • Place chocolate pieces in a microwave-safe bowl.
  • Heat in 20-30 second intervals, stirring between each round, until smooth.
  • Add coconut oil and stir to combine.
  • Dip the Pretzel Rods
  • Hold each pretzel rod at one end and dip about two-thirds into the melted chocolate.
  • Tap gently against the bowl to remove excess chocolate.
  • Add Toppings (Optional)
  • While the chocolate is still wet, add toppings like sprinkles, nuts, crushed candy, or sea salt.
  • Let the Chocolate Set
  • Place dipped pretzels back on the parchment-lined sheet.
  • Let them cool at room temperature for 30-60 minutes, or refrigerate for 10-15 minutes if the room is warm.
  • Serve and Enjoy!
  • Serve immediately or store in an airtight container for up to a week.

Notes

  • Use High-Quality Chocolate: It improves the taste and texture.
  • Add Coconut Oil: Helps the chocolate melt smoothly.
  • Work Quickly: Chocolate hardens fast, so have toppings ready.
  • Customize Toppings: Try crushed peppermint for a holiday twist or drizzle white chocolate for a fancy look.
